Mark Henry’s music plays and he comes to the ring. Mark asks Lana and Rusev if they hear that because that is American pride. He says that he has had the honor of representing this country twice in the Olympic Games. Those will always be two of his proudest moments. He never had a problem with anyone who believe in their country and flag, except for you two jackasses.
Mark says that it got under his skin last night to see that flag raised in his country. Mark says that it made him sick to his stomach. He tells Lana he is not talking to her. Rusev says that the power in America is gone, but Mark does not think so. Mark tells Rusev to ‘listen up boy’. He will give Rusev a personal guided tour into the Hall of Pain.
Rusev and Henry stand face to face and Rusev punches Henry but Henry punches back. Henry blocks a round kick and Henry with the World’s Strongest Slam to Rusev. Henry tells Lana to move out of the way for an Ultimate Warrior Splash and hits it. Lana looks worried as Henry exits the ring and high fives the announcers.

Rusev vs. Jack Swagger: Flag Match
Lana dedicated the match to Vladimir Putin. She cut a promo on Hollywood being fake like America. They brought out a color guard with the U.S. Flag before Swagger’s entrance. Rusev attacked Swagger as he was waving the flag and beat him with a series of right hands. Swagger nailed him and locked on the Patriot Lock before the bell. The referee separated them. Lana began yelling at Rusev who now had to fight on a bad wheel.
Swagger charged him in the corner at the bell and went right back after the ankle. Rusev went to the floor. Swagger went to the floor and tossed him back in. Swagger went right back after the ankle again. Swagger clotheslined Rusev on the floor.
Swagger went for the Swagger Bomb off the ropes but Rusev pulled his knees up. The announcers said Swagger was dealing with injured knees so now we had two hurt wrestlers competing. Rusev worked over his back and ribs, dropping a headbutt across it. Swagger was trapped in a bear hug. He fired back with elbows and went for a belly to belly suplex. Rusev drilled him and continued working over the back. They battled back and forth. Swagger nailed a big kick and nailed the Swagger Bomb but hurt his ribs and only got a two count.
Swagger was caught with an elbow as he charged. Swagger nailed his ankle and hit a belly to belly suplex for a two count. Rusev went after the ribs again and killed Swagger with the leaping thrust kick. Rusev went to lock on the Accolade but his ankle was hurt and he had problems getting it on, so he did a one legged version while standing on his knee. This allowed Swagger some room to reverse it into the ankle lock. Rusev tried to get to the ropes but was pulled back. He turned over onto his back and nailed a number of shots to the ribs to get Swagger off of him. Rusev nailed a big splash and locked on the Accolade, and Rusev’s expression of pain putting the move on was awesome. Swagger refused to tap but blacked out so the referee called it.
Your winner, Rusev!
Lana got in Zeb Colter’s face after and gave him a mocking “We the People.” She then ordered Rusev to kick Colter when he wasn’t looking. They raised a GIANT Russian Flag as Rusev and Lana stood proudly over the beaten Americans.

After Swagger’s match, Zeb takes the mic and says that he has a message for Lana, or Helga, or Olga, or whatever her name is to take to the nasty Kremlin Gremlin that follows her round like a love sick puppy. After SummerSlam, everyone from Los Angeles to Chernobyl will remember the 50 stars and 13 bars waving proudly in the ring. At Summerslam, Jack Swagger will own Rusev.
Zeb asks the crowd to rise for ‘We The People’, but it is hijacked by the Russian flag dropping and Rusev’s music. Lana and Rusev come out onto the stage and a staredown takes place between the two opposing sides.

We go to the ring and out comes Lana and Rusev. We go to commercial. When we return, we hear Rusev has won his match against Sin Cara during the commercial break. On the mic, Lana shows us a photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin with a big wild cat and our President Obama with a puppy, which was tweeted out by the Russian Prime Minister last week. Lana sings Happy Birthday to Obama in Russian. The music interrupts and out comes Jack Swagger, Zeb Colter and Old Glory. They hit the ring and Zeb tells Lana to shut up. He’s tired of her voice. He says no wonder Russian men drink so much vodka.
Zeb is tired of hearing about Putin, Russia and Rusev. He cuts a promo about the match at SummerSlam and gets the crowd to do the “we the people” chant. The two sides face off. Rusev and Lana go to leave but come back. Rusev beats Swagger down with the Russian flag and unloads on him. Rusev knocks Swagger out of the ring with the flag. Zeb stands with the American flag in the corner as Lana and Rusev stare him down.

Summerslam Match Preview: Jack Swagger vs Rusev
Published by:

Jack Swagger prepares to defend America’s honor at SummerSlam when he takes on the hulking Hero of the Russian Federation, Rusev, in a Flag Match.
Lana, Rusev’s social ambassador, laid out a challenge for the match on the Aug. 1 edition of SmackDown, a challenge that Zeb Colter immediately and zealously accepted on Swagger’s behalf. At SummerSlam, Old Glory will be hanging in one corner of the ring and the Russian flag in another, and the first Superstar to incapacitate his opponent enough so he can scale the turnbuckles and capture his own flag will be declared the victor.
To date, no Superstar has given Rusev more trouble than Colter’s 6-foot-7, 275-pound, corn-fed “Big Hoss.” Lana’s Super Athlete has yet to suffer a pinfall or submission loss since debuting in WWE in April, but Swagger is the lone Superstar to have notched a win of any kind — albeit, a disqualification victory — over the Bulgarian-born Russian icon.
The clashes so far between Swagger and Rusev have all been hard-hitting affairs, but their Aug. 27 showdown now contains an overtly patriotic twist. When the dust settles, will it be the Stars and Stripes — which Colter says stands for “pick-up trucks, pretty girls and beers” — that’s waved proudly? Or will Lana and Rusev have their way, and it will be the red, white and blue of the Russian flag that’s triumphantly displayed for all to see?
Watch these two heavyweight warriors tie up at SummerSlam, which airs live on WWE Network and pay-per-view Sunday, Aug. 17, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
