We see a replay of Mark Henry’s rally on Monday Night Raw. We cut to Rusev and Lana talking backstage before we go to a commercial.

Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

Rusev steps into the ring expecting an ovation but it just doesn’t happen. The bell sounds and they tear at each other, locking up and grappling until they both end up outside. After they exchange a few blows Reigns tosses Rusev back inside and begins pounding on the big dude but Rusev comes back with a vengeance. Rusev looks pretty strong but Reigns seems to shrug off some of the more powerful blows. He puts Rusev down briefly after taking to the air but it seems unlikely that we’ve seen the best of the big Bulgarian as we head into a break.

Rusev indeed battles back, powering Reigns into the corner and smashing him into the turnbuckles. He goes to the well once too often and Reigns avoids being put down for the count just yet, hitting the ropes and toppling Rusev with a flying clothesline. He then delivers a boot to Rusev’s noggin out on the apron and starts to load up the Superman punch. Seth Rollins materializes outside, distracting Reigns and Rusev puts him on the mat and sets up the clutch. Reigns escapes and plants Rusev on the canvas. Rollins comes back in and ascends the top in an attempt to crack Reigns on the scull with the briefcase. He misses and hits Rusev instead, prompting the DQ.

Result: Rusev wins via DQ after interference by Seth Rollins.

Reigns chases Rollins outside and they brawl into the crowd as Lana and Rusev celebrate inside. Mark Henry comes out and tells the crew to unfurl Old Glory from the rafters, enraging Rusev. Henry charges in and Rusev clobbers him until Henry musters up every iota and fiber of intestinal fortitude. In a pretty cool spot, Henry and Rusev charge at each other and Henry scoops up Rusev for the World’s Stongest Slam. Mark stands tall as the show fades to black.

Arm Wrestling Contest: Mark Henry vs Rusev (w/ Lana)

Lana says she’s surprised Henry accepted, but he can still do the right thing and forfeit, just like the American way, and just like he did in the Olympics. Henry says he withdrew from the Olympics to injury, and he never thought he would get another chance to represent his country, but here they are.

Henry says he will unleash fury at Night of Champions, but first he will show him what he does now, and Lana dedicates Rusev’s victory to Vladimir Putin. Rusev complains about locking up for a bit, then they finally start the contest and Henry wins after a few moments.

Winner: Mark Henry

Michael Cole says Rusev and Lana asked for a rematch, this time with their left hands, and Henry agrees and they lock up again. Henry looks to be winning again, but Lana throws powder in his face, and Rusev kicks him in the head before taunting him.

Rusev waits for Henry to start to get back up, and Henry tries to wipe the powder from his eyes, but Rusev blasts him with a superkick and taunts him again.

Rusev and Lana come out and cut a promo about how they are in the ‘heartland of America’, but this country has no heart. Lana says that Russia’s heart beats within their leader, Vladimir Putin!

Mark Henry comes out and says he wants an answer. Henry says he challenged Rusev to a match, but all Rusev does is hide behind Lana. Lana says that Rusev will defeat the former Olympian at Night of Champions.

Henry laughs and says he’s going to give Rusev a good old fashioned red, white and blue ass whoopin’ at Night of Champions.

Back in the ring, Lana and Rusev are front and center. They talk about how great Russia and Vladimir Putin are and then Swagger comes out for a big ol’ match…after the recap the story between these guys.

Submission Match: Rusev vs. Jack Swagger

Swagger’s ribs are wrapped up and he looks pretty unsteady to start. In fact, he tries to hoist Rusev and can’t pull it off. Then again, Rusev’s ankle still smarts from all those ankle locks from Swagger so each dude is less than 100%. Swagger does get another Patrior Lock on Rusev but the big guy squirms to the ropes prompting a break. They brawl outside of the ring going into the commercial.

After some advertisements, we’re back into the thick of things. Swagger looks to come back but Rusev has things pretty well covered. Swagger breaks Rusev’s dominance by landing a standing Patriot Lock and Rusev scrambles back into the ring. Ge keeps working the leg and ankle, finally plastering Rusev with a big kick and a splash. Rusev comes back with an ankle lock of his own, Swagger turns it around in kind of a cool spot and locks it in pretty good but Rusev won’t tap no matter what. He gets to the rope, Swagger breaks and tries to lock in the other leg. Rusev wiggles out, Lana gives the signat to “crussssh!” and the Bulgarian behemoth puts Swags in the clutch. Swagger reaches the ropes and Rusev breaks again. The match seems surprisingly long at this point. Rusev works Swagger’s lower back and locks in the clutch far enough from the ropes that Swagger can’t force a break. Swagger starts to stand up and power out and a towel is thrown into the ring. Bo Dallas is shown as the man responsible for this. The ref calls for the bell as Rusev settles down with the clutch again.

Result: Rusev defeats Jack Swagger via submission.

Rusev (w/ Lana) vs. Sin Cara

Rusev kicks Cara in the corner and headbutts him, then he shoves Cara into the ropes and gets caught with a dropkick on the rebound. Cara hits him a few times and heads up top, connecting with a missile dropkick before charging the opposite corner. Rusev catches him and throws him back, catching him with thrust kick and ending it with the Accolade.

Winner: Rusev

Mark Henry interrupts Lana’s postmatch promo and says he guesses they didn’t get the message, and now they know what happens. Henry walks right to the ring and dares Rusev to fight him, but Rusev rolls outside and leaves.

Big E is waiting in the ring as Rusev and Lana make their entrance. We see a promotional graphic for Rusev vs Swagger at Summerslam as Rusev completes his entrance.

Rusev w. Lana vs Big E

The bell rings, and Big E walks into a kick and a set of punches. Big E fights back but is stopped by kicks in the corner from Rusev. Rusev punches Big E down and screams at him. Rusev runs for a big splash in the corner but Big E reverses. Big E hits his body block followed by a Belly to Belly Suplex. Big E goes for his running splash, but Rusev rolls from harm’s way. Rusev hits his signature Savate kick, before Lana tells him to crush. Rusev boots down on Big E before applying the Accolade. Big E taps quickly.

Winner: Rusev

Lana and Rusev celebrate after the match as the Russian flag falls from the rafters.

After Swagger’s match with Cesaro, he celebrates his win with Zeb Colter, until they are interrupted by Lana and Rusev. Rusev waves the Russian flag as Lana takes the mic.

Lana tells us to behold the real red white and blue – the flag of Mother Russia! On behalf of Rusev and the greatest leader in the world; Vladimir Putin, Lana and Rusev challenge America… and Mr Colter himself, to a flag match at Summerslam, against the so called “Real American” Jack Swagger.

Zeb tells Lana that Real Americans never run from two things – one is a party, and the other is a call to action to defend the 50 stars and 13 bars of Old Glory. Zeb accepts the match proposal. However, he says it’s not just him and Swagger accepting the match – it’s every real American within the sound of his voice. Zeb gets the crowd to shout “We, the people!” as Swagger and Rusev wave their respective flags to end the segment.

Reigns threatens Rusev again, saying he will put him on his “Putin kissing ass”. They are about to start the match there and then, but Lana says no – that they won’t do this on Roman’s terms. Lana and Rusev leave as Roman stares them down.
